Wiring the swoop light as DRL?

Anyone know how to wire the swoop light above the headlights as DRL's??
I know they come on in running light mode but no dice in AUTO

You'd need to cut the positioning light wire it at the harness and then splice in a power source that comes on when the car is running. Use this thread to find a power source http://www.cadenzaforum.com/forum/how-forum/3817-how-wire-fog-lights-drls-sxl.html

The wire you want to cut on the driver side is the brown with orange stripe, and on the passenger side is the brown wire.

I personally don't think it's worth it - the positioning light is not bright enough in the daytime to even tell it's turned on.

I leave my running lights on all the time, what's cool is when you shut the car off, they are still on, as soon as you open the door they shut off with the radio. So they are always on as soon as I startup again...

This seems like a simple enough statement, yet I don't understand.
What "Running Lights" are you referring to?

I did learn a new term from this thread...."Swoop Lights". I believe they are the bent white bar inside the headlight housing, correct? It makes no sense to me why KIA does not use these for daytime running lights. Does anyone know what kind of illumination is in these? LED, incandescent?
They can't be daytime running lights because... well... they can't be seen during the day....
They are LED, but the white diffuser kills any chance of seeing it in daylight. I have a spare headlight I'll be taking apart to examine further, but won't be for a while.

I have to believe they would be better than nothing. After all, they are already there.
As soon as I find a wrecked Cadenza with good headlights (which wont be long since my dealers ran a special on them and I see the base models all over the place), I will be trying to install the LED Strip along the spot for it inside the headlight.

I think its annoying that our headlights didn't have the strip, but Canada, SA and SK all do...

Wish it wasn't $800+ for a set of SK Headlights...

Does someone have a close up picture of a headlight module with the strip lights? Where is SK?? I assume SA is South America.??
SA = Saudi Arabia, but yes, those are the lights.

Thanks for the info. I just rewired my girlfriends 2015 Optima SX-Turbo so the fogs lights and LED positioning lights are on all the time and the rear lights (license plate and red running lights) are off.
We both leave for work at about 6:30am and at that time it is bright enough to drive without the headlights but you can clearly see the fogs and positioning lights in the morning twilight. I think I will try to do this on the Cadenza this weekend. Since I already rewired my fogs to be always on I should be able to run another wire to the harness and get the positioning lights on, too.
And done. car is on, stalk is set to off.
Looks good MacDogg! Wish it looked that bright in broad daylight! I still don't think it's worth it though - if I want them on during dusk, I just flip the stalk to parking lights. Granted the rear lights come on, but I like that.

To bad we can't get rid of the white diffuser in the light unit. That would brighten the lights up, and the individual leds would look great
