I just purchased a 2015 Cadenza with less than 10,000 miles. So far I'm really impressed with the car. I also have a 2002 Ford Ranger (hey, sometimes you need a truck!) which I have found runs great on 100% gas vs the 90% gas/ethanol mixture regulated by the US goobermint. The truck also gets 25% better gas mileage with the pure gas. Question is, would running 100% in my Cadenza cause any negative problems? Early mileage is around 28 as it's mostly highway but just curious if trying the 100% poses any problems. Wondering if it avoids the need for Techtron or Seafoam. Thanks for any feedback.

Not sure where I'd get 100% gasoline here in Arizona, but as long as it is top tier unleaded gas, should be no problem. That would have the proper additives.
I understand some states sell 100% gasoline in the winter months. To much of an ethanol mixture would be worse, say 20%, by far.

Hey Gene, you can find the list here: Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada or specifically for you in AZ: Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

Unlike running higher ethanol mixtures, running pure gasoline in your car won't hurt it at all. From what I remember most mileage tests done by manufacturers are done with pure gas and you should certainly see a difference in MPG (positive). You will also probably pay more for your gas as well. If you can find it, USE IT.

Thanks for the reply. The cost of 100% gas in East Tennessee is about 50 cents/gal higher with regular running between $1.70 and $1.85. More and more stations seem to be adding it to their available fuels with some dropping the Plus and substituting the 100%. The economics of putting it in my truck work out to pretty much a break even with the increased mileage but the main reason is performance - seems like a totally different truck. I'm going to do a comparison on my Cadenza and will report back. BTW, with 10,000 miles should I run some Techtron or Seafoam through my system? Thanks again.

I have the same problem Gene. Also I've noticed most of the places that carry it are either marinas or small municipal airports and are (for the most part) a higher grade than what is required.

Mac, according to the car manual they recommend that you run Techron fuel additive through your car when you change your oil. I have free oil changes for the 1st 3 years so I only end up paying $10. It's a bit more expensive than if I did it myself but I have them do it to document that it was done. Better to be safe than sorry.
