I specifically picked up a '14 Cadenza from Carvana because I wanted a sedan with decent towing capacity. I swear I had come across info before purchase claiming the Cadenza had a 3500 pound towing capacity but now I'm failing to find it and the manual that comes with the car doesn't mention any capacity at all. I'm thinking Carvana listed it as that.

I have a 3500 pound hitch on the car and plan on getting a small camper (around 2,000 pounds) for occasional weekend camping.

Is this going to be a problem? Anyone else doing this? I plan on staying well under 3500 pounds.

Thanks for any input.

There seems to be nothing out there about towing, as you stated. That's weird! I thought it was lower then where you are at, like 1500 lb max towing back in the day when I remember reading it had some capacity. Maybe they just don't want you towing with it at all, based on the strength of the transmission more so then torque of the motor.

in my 2016 Owners manual it clearly states:TRAILER TOWING- We do not recommend using this
vehicle for trailer towing In my Manual it is in Section 5-Page 74

I don't think the basics engineering specs are all that much different between 2014 and 2016

As an after thought I have never seen a Kia Optima, Cadenza or K 900 ever towing a boat or trailer but my sample is small

As you bring this up, I recall a discussion maybe, not that I read it somewhere, I think to that effect, perhaps yes, you could put a hitch on, but the fact that Kia doesn't recommend it, you shouldn't be towing anything heavier than a jet ski/ wave runner. Maybe that's what I put in the back of my brain. But yeah, these cars aren't meant for towing. Should have gone with a Charger. Rear wheel drive, stronger chassis, probably has a towing capacity in it's specs.
