I am on the east coast, and I have been looking for luxury midsize cars. And fortunately this struck me as a surprise. It has all I need. Low road noise, nice V6 engine, excellent audio system and large cabin.

I have been considering between this one and Lexus ES / BMW 5, but I know the BMW has higher cost and maintenance costs as well.

I have also seen the problems people here posted about their Cadenzas, but I would like to know how reliable this car really is? Owners, Have there been any major issues with your Cadenzas that even the KIA dealerships skipped over? How many miles were you able to put on your car without experiencing issues? The one I am looking at, to buy(not lease, and own for the long term) is 2017 Premium, with some 12k miles on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

I've had my car for almost 5 years now, 42k+ miles on it. No major issues here. I would obviously highly suggest buying a CPO and getting the extended warranty if you can, that extends the warranty of the car to 10yrs 100k mi. If the car isn't a CPO, I say skip it. Full stop.

Just so you're aware the Cadenza is technically a full size sedan, though it is one of the smallest full sizes. I've had a few issues with my car though most were minor annoyances (engine rattle on startup) and a couple that were a bit more "major", still nothing that hampered my ability to drive my car. My GPS screen started to get funky lines in it, turns out after a few days of diagnosing and replacing several parts, they eventually had to replace a part in my GPS that was over $4k; this was fixed under warranty, no questions. My backup cam also started to go out, this was fixed under warranty due to a TSB already out on it (known issue).

Other than those few things the car has been great. I love it and I'm still impressed with how nice it is.

Not that many 2017s or 2018's sold, most people here have the first gen 2014-2016. Sold car, has all the amenities, it's almost the exact same size as the Genesis G80, under one inch shorter, but has a bigger trunk. Make sure you get one with Lux or Tech package, if you get a base model you'll be selling yourself very short. That second generation is much nicer then the first, better stereo too...maybe not quite as quick transmission doesn't seem to shift as aggressively as the first gen, but still plenty power.

You don't necessarily have to get one CPO as long as you get the extended warranty. Thing with CPO is they have to pay Kia to get the Cirt, but it only gives you the power train back. Where if you get one without, it will cost a little less, then you add the full coverage to 100k for under $2000 most likely, and it will cover nearly everything that could break.

My 14 has had the head unit replaced, (LCD NAV Radio) Windshield was leaking, replaced, seat heater buttons, overhead light console, Timing chain tensioners, AC mode actuator (made a funky click noise), and AC compressor replaced. AC compressor was replaced at just over 55,000 miles, all covered under warranty, to include a loaner. Early on they always had a base model Cadenza for me to drive, as of late they don't offer premium loaners, but I always got a loaner unlimited mileage for free.

I'm now on the extended warranty, and just saving money for when that runs out. If the car is still going strong, I may just keep it until something drastic comes along...Right now it has a BB of maybe $12000 tradin, but has a sideswipe body repair, so I'll lose at least 1-2k on the tradein due to the carfax fail, so the equity isn't as important as having zero car payment for about 3 more years. At that time the value should balance out to at or below $5k, regardless of the repair..

I have had 4 Kias , two Optimas, one K900 ands the 2016 Cadenza with Tech and luxury Packages( in Canada marketed differently but same melody different lyrics) .I have 30,000 KLMS. and have had zero issues except a problem in transferring over my Satellite radio contract because the Cadenza is not set up to accept traffic .. I have my car serviced regularly my Canadian warranty package is 5 years bumper to bumper so I have no cost service and I'm religious about getting it serviced when it tells me to do it .( i set up the service reminder) .The only quirk I find is that the clock set up is in NAV setup icon to change for time zones changes .

Its a great car

'15 with Lux package - purchased new, now 40K miles. Had a sunroof trim piece replaced and a fan relay replaced that got stuck and drained the battery - both under warranty, no other issues. I have the rattle on startup issue but it doesn't bother me. Got rear ended - minor bumper damage, fixed and can't tell - but there goes my clean carfax. Not a big deal since the plan is to keep the car until 99K miles then sell it. Or keep it.
