Steering Wheel Volume Switch

Just when I get everything fixed, another issue. Seems as if the car wash people when doing their "interior detail" broke the steering wheel volume up / down switch. It will lower the volume fine, but pressing it upwards returns no tactile click or movement, and no volume increase on the radio.

I don't suppose that trapezoidal piece in the picture can be removed and replaced without removing the steering wheel or other PhD level process?

Thanks.

As you indicate, seems as if this might be the part below.

I need to see where those two screw connectors are made - if exposed on the backside of the steering wheel, or if steering wheel removal will be necessary (no thanks.)

Looks like they may be screwed under where the airbag attaches. (Anyone ever removed the airbag?)

The service manual makes it look like it's a separate piece. I'll see if I can find the part number. The service manual says to get to the piece, the steering wheel must come off.

Although, looking at the parts you can order, it looks like you can only order the whole front part of the steering wheel (your original diagram).
Ahh mine did the same thing last year! My dealership quoted me a ridiculous price of over $230 to replace it so i’ve decided to postpone it. I’ve found the part one line for around $80 I think but I still haven’t deemed it necessary.
If you do it yourself, make sure you disconnect the battery before starting.
Attached is what I found on the airbag module and steering wheel removal. I've removed a steering wheel before (not a Cadenza) - it's not that hard, but you'll need a steering wheel puller to do it (at least relatively easily). The first set is what was listed as "Airbag removal", and the other is the steering wheel removal. As Gene said, the most important step for the airbag is disconnecting the battery.

The exact same part broke in the exact same way on my 14' last year. As I had under 50K miles on the car, it was under warranty. The steering wheel was definitely taken off as it was initially put back on at least one tooth off resulting in the steering wheel being off center. They fixed it immediately though. I could tell just by the feel that the whole "triangle" of buttons were all new and obviously came as all one piece. I've no problems with that or the other triangle of switches since.
Removing the steering wheel is easy. A torx bolt at the left and right side of the airbag and remove the bag. The steering wheel will need to be removed. remove the center nut and wiggle the wheel off. My 2015 has a key at 12 o'clock so wheel we be aligned at install. (6) screws removed and the buttons can be replaced.

Good thing I have a mechanically-inclined friend. He helped me in removing my steering wheel.

Literally this exact same thing happened to me yesterday at the car wash. I didn't even notice it as I was on a call using the Bluetooth for most of my ride home. Volume down no issues, up though..nothings smh

I got the same problem. Did you ever find the replacement part? I have looked all over the net and cant find the right part. I found the part on eBay from like 2 sellers but after paying for it they would both get back to me and tell me they can no longer get that part. So like if you or anyone else knows where to get this part please let me know, thanks.

Mine came from the dealer. No issues for them to get it.
What did it set you back? I know dealers tend to charge alot. Also like did you have them install it or did you just buy the part from them?
I had them do the work...was under standard warranty. I think I remember the part being like $150 ish dollars from the paperwork. You could call the parts department and ask them.
Ok thank you. If I continue to have trouble finding the part anywhere else maybe I will just have to go through the dealer. Thanks again.

I'm wondering if anyone else around here has done this? I just ordered the volume control switch assembly and I'm looking to do this with a couple of buddies.
Did anyone find the part number? Dealer is quite a distance away, and when I know the part number, I can usually get a price from multiple dealers including shipping.

While on the subject, has anyone found a good dealer to buy from, with exploded image diagrams online?
