Does anyone else out there feel like you have an 8 year old child messing with your volume when your city driving? The button to turn it off degrades the surround sound which is not an option. It's like turning off the loudness switch on a stereo.


Same deal with the GPS voice yelling at you at highway speeds and then whispering to you at slower speeds. It's the speed controlled volume issue.


Stopped at the dealer and he agrees on both so I called Kia and their looking into a solution for both.

Less than 24 hours Kia called they have a fix I'm going in first AM to have the
8 year old removed from my car.
Translation: I will be able to turn off speed controlled volume:D

It has never been a problem for me. I use it and it doesn't seem to change it wildly. I do notice a slight volume increase/decrease but nothing that I feel is overboard. I like it on.

Up date: Dropped her off this morning. Many customers have complained and Kia has a flash drive fix. They also have a fix for the GPS volume speed control. The GPS volume control fix also takes care of the glitch of it speaking Spanish or Korean for no reason.

I dont know about these software updates; since the last one, the voice recognition for calling has become pretty much unusable. I say a name, and it brings up a list of 2 or 3 names, some of which dont even sound remotely close to the name I tried to call. I've been meaning to call Kia about it, or take it back down to the dealer, but work has been busting my butt the past few weeks.

Is there a way to see the new version number? I haven't had the same issues you described, but am curious if my version is current. Any other improvements you found with the update?

You can find the version number if you go to Information, then click update (going off memory here). Look up TSB #62 on kiatechinfo, which lists the version numbers (old and new). I'm sticking with the old version for now, I want my voice recognition to work, plus I haven't had the issues this TSB fixes.

Voice recognition does and always has worked. My Kia paperwork shows the following:
Parts: 9226 AVN software upgrade ELE 062 28325F06 N50 C98 0.3


I was told this is the latest and greatest. Either way both volumes are operating as they should.

Had mine done last week. 1st dealer (where the car was purchased) said it was a setting in the navigation. This was after I told them what tsb to look up. Obviously not fixed.

2nd dealer did the update since I printed out the whole tsb for them. But they acted like they were doing me a favor since it wasn't a recall.

Love the car, the dealers not so much.

PS- voice recog seems a little off.

Understood about the dealers. They can make or break the whole experience. I used to be loyal to the VW brand, but gave up due to the dealership games when it came time for service or repairs. What a nightmare.

So far my dealer where I purchased my Cadenza has been awesome and I'm hoping the experience continues. They even did my HID swap for free using the bulbs I brought them. I'm a little over 3 months in and still enjoying my car every time I get in it.

Regarding the voice recognition after TSB… have you deleted your contacts and reloaded? Someone earlier mentioned they did this and it helped.

Yeah it's not so bad I'm angry just irritating, but I'll have the maintenance done at this dealer and build some rep.

Regarding the voice recog, I haven't, just noticed I had to repeat multiple times but I will do that right now. Either way it's an awesome feature.

I have the same problem. It is basically useless. I called the KIA customer care number for the Cadenza and they were nice but no help. They said to g to the dealer, but I have a feeling that they will be of no help either.

Please post what KIA says.

Hmm, I bought mine in March,, and haven't had these issues. I must already have the new update. I've been working with some friends of mine that do changes on EURO cars head units. So far we have not been able to isolate the stupid I agree screen. I really want that gone. I tried calling both Kia and Infinity,,, so far nothing from either. It seems like no matter what as soon as you start the car it's there,,, PITA.

What are the newest versions of the software? Mine are:

Car bought April 2013. Went to get software upgrade several months ago.
