Hey guys, I'm looking to sound deaden the whole car. Has anyone added sound deaden material to their car? I'm also looking for tips on how to take apart all the panels/seats in this car as I don't want to just get in there and break anything .! I know there is kiatechinfo but you have to pay for it now!

Rear seat is easy enough. Pop the lower part out at the front, then remember to disconnect all the wiring harnesses. The upper back seat takes 2 people in my opinion. Once you get it unbolted, just a couple at the bottom I recall, you have to slide it up about 2 inches to get it off the metal hooks on both sides. Because of the curve of the seat, and all the padding, it's not easy to do by yourself, as you can't keep one side up, then get the other. Once both hooks are cleared, it comes right out, has a couple wiring harnesses also (heated seats). After that, I've only ever lifted up the back panel, looking for a few noises where the panel was rubbing/clicking. I was able to solve all of that.

That said, I can understand the doors, and back seat area, but I wouldn't recommend going all out to deaden the floor too. That said, Insulating the trunk floor would be a good idea. Long trips the exhaust seems to really heat up the floor in there...

Thank you guys!! @Yooshaw that is exactly what I needed, thank you. I will be posting pics after I install the sound deadening this weekend. I only bought enough to do the doors or floor (not sure which I want to do yet), but if this product is good I will be finishing the whole car in it.

From what I've heard you should use different materials for different sounds you are trying to minimize, specifically high/low frequency. What are you trying to not hear and what are you using?

I bought Second Skin Damplifier Pro to reduce resonance noise (rattles and cracking noises) , then their Luxury Liner Pro to block out any other kinds of noise. The Luxury Liner Pro consists of closed cell foam & a thick rubber material to stop any sound from coming through. The Damplifier Pro & Luxury Liner Pro will both go on the floor to block any road noise. Then for the door panels I plan to get the Damplifier Pro & the closed cell foam glued on to the Damplifier Pro.

Ok, I was just wondering. Once you've got it installed a drive for a bit would you be willing to update us on how well it performs? I've not really noticed a need for it personally but I always have my music on so I don't hear a lot of any other noises, but others may be wanting feedback before they pull the trigger too :)

Not a problem ! I actually bought a dB meter to measure the amount of sound so I will be doing a before/after sort of thing 🙂 Now keep in mind I will be doing these installs in phases, I will be applying the first phase of sound deadening on the floor, the second phase will be the door panels/doors, then the third phase will likely be when I buy my amp/sub for the trunk, sound deadening the trunk. Now from what I've researched, there were multiple different results from different cars and different people. Lots of people say they saw a 10dB boost in sound from their system, and a 10dB loss of road noise, better sound quality/clarity from stock speakers, so we will see 🙂

I sound deadened the floor yesterday and took apart the car on Thursday, and let me tell ya, it's not an easy job to do by yourself. Took me 16 hours from start to finish, to achieve a ~5-7dB loss in road noise while driving. I did come up in other ways too though, I found about $2 in change, and a sweet-n-low packet at the bottom of the center console! Also learned a lot about our Cadenza. Disassembling the car was fairly easy, just time consuming. The car already has some sound deaden material from the factory(not much), and some padding in between the pedals and the engine to reduce engine noise. I'll have pics and a write-up if anyone is interested in how to do this.

Very nice. Overall with the time/resources put into this project so far do you find it a worthwhile venture?

If you could do it in half the time (maybe with a buddy to help you out) it would be worth it. Definitely don't do it by yourself unless you have done it before. I still haven't driven the car enough to fully get a feel for it, so can't give a proper review yet.

I'm always interested in pics and a write-up - while I probably will not do it, sharing with the community to broaden knowledge is always a good thing in my book.

NOPE. I would be terrified to get my car anywhere near torn down that much. These pics almost give me anxiety lol.

It really isn't all that bad. If you take your time and document each step and make sure to not lose/break anything, putting everything back will be as easy as taking things off. It took me 16 hours from start to finish but if I was to do it again it would probably take me half the time.
