Hey all,

I recently bought a 2014 Kia Cadenza and the roof moldings on top are painted. The paint has cracked fairly heavily on both moldings. I have talked to Kia and they are saying the moldings probably wernt painted. Now, i have talked to some body shops and the moldings are showing needed paint time. This is on a premium cadenza with no sunroof. Vehicle has 45k miles on it. Can anyone tell me if your moldings are painted or not? I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by moldings. If you could provide a picture that may help someone. I have the sunroof on mine but a pic could still help.

He is talking about the rubber moldings in the drip rails. This is a known issue, I had the same issue and advised the dealer NOT to paint them when they were replaced. Its just a poor design, paint will never hold on the rubber molding.

I have exactly the same issue and would like to replace them.

Both sides on my car have crackled and they seem to be some type of tape. Has anyone replaced theirs and does anyone know the part number(s) ?

I suspect it comes in a roll and you just peel off what you need.

If you call corporate they say it’s unheard of! Mine is so bad that all my glass from the windshield Sun and moon roof and back window all are failing, I even had my windshield detached from my car in 2021! They have sold lemon and they are enjoying their lemonade for sure! I’m filing through insurance and consider a civil suit!

On my 2017 the paint cracked and dealer replaced with unpainted ones, my wife’s 2017 did the same thing but she has.chosen to leave them alone, they are almost down to just plain plastic
