sounds like a pile of crap even if true marginal savings at best

I think the idea of removing excessive weight is a good idea. Even removing the bike rack or trailer hitch and just leave it at home, I see those on cars all the time and think about how stupid it is if you're only towing or carting bikes a few times a month, or even less, leave that crap at home!
