Random question here...

Has anyone swapped out the Amber turn signal bulbs on the rear for Red bulbs?

There does not seem to be any consistency between manufactures in this area. Some use Amber bulbs on the rear, others use Red. Kia seems to use both...just depends on the model.

Thoughts or opinions on either one?

I kind of like the Red bulb...especially with the clear turn signal lens on the rear housing.

I've never actually seen a red bulb...Amber yes, but the red is usually a red lens over a clear blub...
I've seen other cars with clear lenses and red signals in the past...so assuming there is a red bulb out there somewhere. I could be mistaken though.

One that comes to mind is the MB E Series from a couple of years ago. Clear turn signal lens, red bulb when activated. Looked sharp. But, it could have been possibly an LED in there...especially given it was a MB.

Like I said, just a random question...

You can stick 1156 Red LED bulbs in there, would need load resistors to work properly. I've got some amber LEDs in there right now. I think it's a matter of personal preference - I prefer amber.

A more interesting mod would be to convert the rear turn signal into another reverse lamp. Also convert the outer brake light as a combination brake/turn light. Similar to how some of the Optima guys have modified there's:
