SUMMARY:
Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2014 Cadenza vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, through August 27, 2013, and equipped with 19" non-chrome aluminum wheels. The wheels on the affected vehicles may fracture from impacts such as large, deep potholes.

CONSEQUENCE:
A wheel fracture could cause the circular rim to separate, resulting in a loss of tire pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY:
Kia will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wheels with new wheels, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in June 2014. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC107.

Sticker on the driver door sill, lower right hand side (looking into vehicle). Month/Year is shown. Fortunately mine is 10/13 and not subject to the recall.

WOW,, that's gonna hurt the KIA pocket book. Those wheels aren't cheap. I also saw something today that the investigation into the exploding panoramic sunroofs is back for the sorento / sportage. I owned the sportage and never had any issues,,,, but I'm hearing the number is growing ,,, last I checked it was up to somewhere close to 65,000. This stuff sucks for KIA. But hopefully they'll do right by anyone impacted - people will see they did and it will help them get even bigger. I think they are #8 in the US in sales so far ( 2014 ).

I'd guess Kia will expect their supplier to cover the cost as I don't think Kia is manufacturing their own wheels.

Be careful, the wheels they got to replace mine were damaged. They had to ship them back and I have to wait another two weeks until they get the correct wheels in.

I scheduled an appointment two weeks ago with my local dealer for regular maintenance and the wheel replacement. Yesterday, I'm sitting in the waiting room and the service adviser tells me the wheels are on back order - after I was at the dealer for 45 minutes. He stated it may take a month or more to get the new wheels. A little disappointed in the service guy for not letting me know up front and extremely disappointed in Kia for not having the wheels. Seems if you are going to send out an IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL notice, should have the parts available. Not happy. Sent an email to Kia this morning, let's see what they come back with.

Had my wheel recall done. Called dealership got appointment the next day. Letter from kia said it might take 1 hour. service dept. told me 2 hours, and gave me a shuttle ride home.
Took 3 hours before the shuttle again got me back in my car. Dealership washed car and cleaned the inside, quess that counts for not bad. Peoria Kia, Peoria,AZ

Not sure how they're on backorder when they have ordered me 3 sets in the past few weeks. Now they're going to have to order another set as they damaged the wheels while mounting the tires. They took off the black paint around the rim of the wheels and scraped it up with the mounting tool.

I received my letter in the mail yesterday but it is at a mailbox that I don't check frequently. You think they will let me upgrade to some chrome beauties for my Black Cadenza?? LOL

I haven't seen all of the quality issues yet (knock on wood) but I tell you what, that car rides so **** smooth at 80-85 mph that it is a ticket waiting to happen. I play Tennis on Saturday mornings and I have to get on the highway early. I took that thing up to 100mph for about 4-5 minutes and it rode so smooth.

Oh yeah, can somebody please tell me if we can disable that cruise control braking mechanism? I love cruise control but like to engage and dis-engage on my own. I guess I could read the book. Heck I couldn't figure out how to turn my fog lights on..... Read America Read......I can hear my late Mother saying that to me........LOL

You can disengage the advanced smart cruise control by pressing and holding the button with "car with lines underneath it" on the steering wheel, just below the cruise/cancel button.
