I'm starting to notice a slight wind noise at about 45 mph from my driver's outside mirror. I folded the mirrors up while driving and it instantly ceased.

I know TheDunk300 has posted some time ago that their dealer was able to add 'something' to the door which eliminated the wind noise. Per my dealer friend, there are no TSB's on wind noise nor has he had any customer complaints.

If anyone has experienced this, could you reply and also what improvement or noise-proofing might have helped? And, whether a dealer helped and how and where dealer is located?

Thanks in advance!

Well when I had my issues with my roof they sent a specialized technician out and he had told me there was a part he could put in-between the door and body. I don't remember what it was but i haven't had an issue with it since.

Dunk300; thanks for your post answer. Can I ask which dealer you worked through? The more information I can give my service department, the more they can refer to KIA to ask for a special tech. We all know how KIA is about their lack of interest in service, so, it really helps to take as much info to the dealer as possible.

Would you say the 'part' was likely some kind of weatherstripping? Is there anything visible which looked newly added after the special tech worked on it?

thanks!

I worked through Kearney Pearson Kia its in So California. Altho It was through one of the technicians KIA sent out from L.A. and was over a year ago at least. As to what they did he said he had to order a part so it took a couple days but to be honest I didn't tend to look what he did or what was put there. I just remember we went on our test drive after repair and It was resolved, along with the other issues i had.

Eric,

Thanks very much for the additional information! This will help me help my dealer here in NC; I have a great dealer but they, also, get frustrated by KIA's lack of real interest in solving obscure problems.

Again, thank you!

I know it's been about 2 years since this post but does anyone have a fix for the side mirror wind noise? I just bought my car not too long and had the weather strips replaced entirely and noticed the wind noises was still there.

Then I learned that the wind noise was caused by the outside mirror when I accidentally hit the switch to have the mirriors fold in and realized the sound disappeared essentially.

Would love to learn what to do to get this fix because the dealer doesn't know why and I hate to have to make another service appointment.

Sad to say I never did get the wind noise resolved. My dealer replaced the door weather stripping all around and it made no difference; I think the problem is the unique design of the mirror's shape. I never did refer to the KIA corporate Cadenza/K900 service group; maybe you could call them and file a report. I do not have the 800 # handy; but it's been referenced on this site tons of times and should come up with an easy search, or, tell your dealer you want the number as you plan to escalate it to corporate. That is totally what that group is there for so don't hesitate to refer problems to them; they will work it back with your dealer.

I no longer have the car; traded it for a K900. Definitely no wind noise in that car; but the Cadenza was an awesome car. Noticed on the new body style, Cadenza's outside mirrors are much more streamlined.

good luck!

I hit 95mph the other day, and the windshield that was replaced recently had a whistle...hard to tell if I wasn't also into the wind, but man...i''ve only ever heard it close to 100...so chances are I'm not going to hear it very often!
