My wife had an incident with our 2017 Cadenza yesterday. The car would leave a stop sign but only accelerate to a point, then no faster. She nursed it home and when I got home and checked it out the condition had corrected itself. I cannot give any information on tachometer reading, gear position or even speed as she did not observe any of these items. Has anyone here had this problem? The car has 57,000 miles on it. My first guess is a MAF sensor (Mass Airflow sensor).

I know cars have a limp mode but I thought that was usually turbo'd cars. At the very least I suggest a bottle of Techron with your next fuel up (if you don't do that already) and maybe a few good takeoffs in 1st gear sport mode ;). I'm not saying that to be cute I'm saying it merely as it may be possibly some buildup maybe on a sensor or something and doing that may help clean the gunk off. I'm not really big into engines so can't help much other than a bit. I'd also call the dealer mechs and see if they could give you any ideas. The best thing to do when that happens is take it to the/a Kia dealer right then and have them check it (don't turn it off!). It's inconvenient sure but it's the only sure way to diagnose it.

I have had that recurring problem with my 2014 Cadenza, also with engine light coming on. Dealer fixed it with code adjustments. Then it turned out there was a bad fuel injector, which was replaced. Then they sold me a fuel system clean-out. It's happened once again but disappeared after I restarted the engine. I now only burn Top Tier fuel (Valero) and keep a CASE of Techron in the trunk for adding every 1,000 miles or so.

I had this happen on my 2014 Cadenza. Suddenly the car wouldn't do more than 20 mph. Managed to crawl it to the dealership. Turns out, a mouse built a nest in my engine compartment and chewed through some wires. Replaced the wires and got rid of the nest - all better. Strange to have this happen since I live in a more urban area.
