While talk of a Kia sports sedan has been swirling for years now, new spy photos show us that the Korean brand is getting close to a real release.
Codenamed CK, the new sports sedan from Kia will likely feature a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 cranking out 365 horsepower, the same unit found in the current Genesis G80, though it may be turned up to around 400 hp under the hood of this sports sedan to make it a performer.
Styling will be based on the Kia GT Concept, while the production car may also keep that concept’s name. Kia could also use the ‘Stinger’ badge, another name pulled from a former sports car concept that Kia has trademarked for use on a vehicle.
Hyundai’s new Genesis Coupe, which is being renamed the Genesis G70, will share a platform with the new Kia
sports sedan which means that the two are also likely to share engines.
Kia is aiming its new sports car at the Audi A7 and
Mercedes CLS-Class, though it will no doubt be a slightly less expensive option. Expect the new Kia sports sedan to show up sometime in 2016, possibly at the Paris Motor Show in September.
