Am I the only one who think Kia could have done a better job with it's grille. Kind of boring if you ask me.

I much prefer the Kia Sportage Grille

I agree...the grill is the worst thing on this beautiful car.
They could do at least a grill from K9

Equus grille looks even better to me :

I do agree, Mozart, but I think that Kia was going for something bold and different that would eventually be a statement of individuality. Much like BMW's weird grille. There's no mistaking it's a Bimmer...

The Sportage grille would have been much more mainstream and attractive, but not as bold.

I prefer the Cadenza's updated Quoris-like grille compared to the previous grille seen in the banner at the top of this forum, which seems too bland to me, like the Genesis and Equus grilles. Different strokes for different folks.

BTW, shouldn't that banner be updated?

Susan,

When I first joined the forum, a lot of the thread titles had 2013 (instead of 2014) which is not how the U.S. cars are designated. I called it to their (the admins) attention and they eventually made corrections. Maybe they'll see this and change the photo banners as well.

We shall see...
I HATE with a passion, the quoris grill. I'm hoping it see's a redesign before I buy one! lol
Hey all i test drove the Cadenza after driving a Nissan Maxima Sport. You can forget the need to compare with German automakers. If comparing with other Asian automakers, you can plan om buying the Maxima every time. The Cadenza is a big disappointment for the 40k price tag.

Thanks for the opinion, but you will probably not get a lot of people to agree on this forum...Have you read the title, (hint, it has CADENZA in it).

I think you belong on the Maxima forum, there is a choir there for you to sing to...

Aren't you on a bunch of the other post here cutting down the Kia Cadenza? sure looks like the same name.
You are right about the Maxima driving more sporty, then the Cadenza isn't meant to be a sports model. I compared the maxima handling to the Optima SX at a lot less money. If you want a sports car buy a sports car

Have fun with your CVT, but ill pass on it.

I compared the Cadenza with a mix of American, Japanese and German cars. The German cars came no where close! Ya, the 335 was sportier, but had much less features and options and started 2k higher, it is also much smaller. The CC was nice, but I didnt like the interface, or the sloping roof line which meant no rear headroom or legroom. The drive was meh. Lexus was overpriced harsh ride crap that pretended to be more sportier than it was. Acura has a hideous beak, and is overpriced with dated technology. Infiniti was too expensive for the q50. The 300 v6 is the only competitor that I actually like and considered. Same price, same features, same size. The reason I got the Cadenza over the 300 is its easier to drive and is sportier and slightly quicker. Also, my wife couldn't reach the brake pedal in the 300 comfortably.

Why do people like you come on forums to bad talk cars that you probably never drove, just because you don't like the brand and how popular the car is getting? I think its cause you have no life. You dont like it, thats fine with me, but dont make stupid comments and comparisons. Theres no point of even saying this on the Cadenza forums, you can go to nissanworld, where you and your buddies can make fun of the Cadenza all you want

I couldn't have said it better, carz!

I was trying to be tentative and low key with my earlier comments to him, but I really meant to use more force. You did it for me. Thanks!

No Problem
Max comparison

Hey all i test drove the Cadenza after driving a Nissan Maxima Sport. You can forget the need to compare with German automakers. If comparing with other Asian automakers, you can plan om buying the Maxima every time. The Cadenza is a big disappointment for the 40k price tag.
I got no problem with anyone coming to the Cadenza forum and saying the Maxima or some other car is better than the Cadenza, but it would be nice if you said why you felt that way. What's so great about the Maxima? Why is the Cadenza a big disappointment?

I owned a 1996 Maxima and drove it for over 150k miles over 13 years and the only thing that I ever had to do to it beyond maintenance was replace an alternator. I tell everyone it was the best car I ever owned.

This time however I chose Cadenza over the Max and believe me I looked at the Max. I thought the Cadenza had a much nicer interior, better warranty, more comfortable seats and more features. Plus by the time you optioned up a Max to have somewhat similar features it stickered higher than the Cadenza. The current Max kind of felt behind the times as well, I believe they are redesigning next year and the new Max will probably be great but more expensive than the Cadenza.

Speaking of the Max since the sales rep could not actually explain this to me maybe someone here can, what's the deal with manual paddle shifters on a car with a CVT transmission? How do you manually change gears on a car with no gears?

I was also looking at the Maxima.

I read up on it, The paddle shifters mimic a normal automatic transmission, and use different gear ratios in order to make the car feel sporty or something. In the new altima, there are 7 "gears" on the cvt.
more simply put it creates artificial gear ratios when you shift giving you the synthetic feeling of shifting. It can only create a set amount though; Usually capped at 7 fake gears.
^^^...so you can pretend that it's a "real" tranny? That's cool.
yup, i can also pretend im in a lambo...its not the same as the real one tho

Hey carz - I was wondering how the front legroom is in the cadenza. I'm 6'2'' and want to make sure I can stretch the legs a bit. Any issues?

Forgot to ask where do you live in Jersey? I grew up in Succasunna, Morris county but have been in AZ for over 20 yrs now. I'm a big Yankee fan.
