Just something bothering me

Please PLEASE make all threads created by yourself editable ALL THE TIME. I think they way it is right now you can edit your own thread once and then you're done. This is not a great idea as some of us want to have our introduction page or picture page updated as we do things to our car. If you could make this possible that would be great!!

If you have an ongoing project with your car why not create a thread in the general section. Or if you want to put it on your intro thread you can just post the updates in subsequent posts. Failing that if you feel it's truly necessary that it's updated in the original post, ask a mod or admin to edit it for you :)

I do agree with the OP. I would prefer to edit my own threads though.

So if my thread gets to be 5 years old like it was on my other car forum people are supposed to click through every page to see every mod I did? If we can move new posts in front of our original post then I suppose that would be an OK fix.

If they're new to the modding they may want to see the full process you went to, or they can just click first unread to jump to the latest post, or even flip their viewing order so that the newest post is on top. Either way the reason behind this policy is the fact that while you may not do so, other people will inevitably abuse it whether it be in the classifieds to scam someone or if they've been reported and they want to hide the proof. If you really want everything to be on the first post as someone on the mod/admin team and they will edit it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you set certain sub-forums to be non-editable? And I've seen on several other forums when you are moderator you can see the unedited post... not trying to be a PITA here but every other forum I go to has these features..
This issue isn't on a forum by forum basis it's a general purpose one, and the forums I do see that have the ability for op to edit indefinitely leave it only on the classifieds which given your analogy wouldn't work for you it seems. And to be fair using your mod thread situation; would you be erasing your previous mods or converting them into a proverbial 5 year old super post?

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
