My wife is an invalid and we installed a class 2 hitch so that we could have her power wheelchair lift installed. The chair and lift add about 350 lbs to the rear and consequently it often scrapes going and out of driveways. Soon we will be taking a vacation and I am concerned that with all the luggage and an additional passenger we will have more problems. The owner's manual says load capacity is 900 lbs.

Anyone aware of a reasonable way to provide more capacity to the suspension?

You can get an air lift kit installed. Monroe makes good ones. They also have a load sensing shock
check with local shock installers or ask at a u haul, They should be able to tell you who does it.
It can be expensive so shop around

Check with insurance, sometimes they will help pay for accessories for handicapped capable vehicles.

Note that 350 Lbs is also dangling out farter then a 900 lb load inside the trunk. I'm sure there's a way to equate that load, but the basic concept is that due to leverage it's probably a good 2/5ths heavier then just 350.

I'll concur with gene, the only way you're going to get this ride level is to have an aftermarket suspension with either an onboard compressor, or you can go cheap and just have the valve stem where you air it up at the gas station. But as stated, there may be ways of getting additional assistance to help with this upgrade. Good luck with that, and whatever you decisive, please report back with pictures, I'm very curious to see that.
