Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the market for a used car and I came across a 2014 Kia Cadenza with a salvage title. The car has a 3.3L V6 DOHC 24V engine and the seller is asking for $11,500. I'm interested in the car but I'm a bit hesitant about the salvage title.

I've done some research and I know that a salvage title means the car was in an accident or had some kind of damage that was deemed too expensive to repair by the insurance company. I'm not sure if this means the car will have ongoing issues or if it will be reliable in the long run.

I'm hoping some of you could share your experiences or insights about salvage title cars. Have you ever owned a car with a salvage title? Did you experience any issues with it? Would you recommend buying a car with a salvage title?

Additionally, I would appreciate any advice on what to look out for when inspecting the car. What are some red flags that I should be aware of before making a decision?

Thank you in advance for your help and insights.

Check your state laws. Some states, like MD won't let you register a car with a salvage title. $11,500 seems quite high for a car that even an insurance company wouldn't repair. You could be setting yourself up for unforeseen problems buying that car. I would spend a little more and get one from a dealer. I was looking recently and saw a few in my area for just over $14k and they were under 100k miles

keep away. no ifs ands or buts. even for free. there are plenty of great used cadenza’s in that range. also keep in mind that high mileage means plenty of upcoming repairs and or servicing. i saw 50 cadenza’s on carfax today. they are out there, just some time and patience
