Front License Plate Ticket

I got ticketed in Santa Barbara CA while parked in front of a family home on a public street. Looks like I need to get a verified plate installed or pay the $48.

For $48 bucks I'm leaning towards being a law-breaker with a clean front bumper.

In stead of going back to SB for Memorial Day; I'll go to Vegas!

When I lived in Texas, we had two plates, I just put my second plate on the dash in the corner on the passenger side.

I got stopped a few weeks in and was told I had to have a front plate, I pointed it out, and he said he didn't see it, and I had to move it. I asked him to please show me where it stated I had to have the plate mounted to my front bumper, and not "Visible" which it was. Needless to say, he lost that argument. Its not my fault he is too lazy to look for it.

After that, no other problems. That way you can be in compliance with the law, and keep that sexy front end. :)
Wow, that's the first time I have heard of someone getting a ticket for no front plate on a car parked on a street none the less.
Anyway, I have my front plate in the trunk. Maybe I should have it inside the cabin in case a LEO stops me....might have to toss it on the dash real quick like!!

You can do that too, keep it in your glove box or next to your console. :)

I'm in friendswood, just west of Clear Lake/Kemah area... they just find reasons
So I ordered the "Show and Go" holder on Amazon; let's see if it fits and does the job

All you need to do in CALI is stick some double sided tape onto the back of the plate and temporarily stick it on the front bumper.

Go to any CHP station and have them mark it off. (No cost to do this)

Then when you go into court it's only a $25 court cost for the fix it ticket.
Installed the Show and Go from Altech Products (purchased on Amazon $38). So here's my assessment:

The good:
* not hard to install (need to drop the splash guard)
* it works as advertised
* seems to be a solution

The not good:
* plastic frame and cheaper build than I thought
* it sits very low; I know the wife is going to lose it to a parking bump
* web reviews says it rattles at high speed so I've attached a security strap when folded (not included)

Thoughts?

Update: Approved and signed off by local PD. Just need to remember to stay away from parking stops and curbs. The bracket sits very low.

Nice. Do you have to have it visible while driving? Or are they ok with it being folded closed?
So far I am just driving with it folded in. But when I park in Santa Barbara where I got the ticket I will display it.

Many cars in Southern California don't have a front plates, but it still is a vehicle code violation, so there's always risk.

I doubt I will get pulled over just for not having a front plate. But what if I get pulled over and then flip up the front plate in front of the officer; would he let it go or write me up anyway? My guess is I will still get a ticket, but just for something else (like speeding).

We'll see.
