Hello all! About ready to take delivery of my 2014 Cadenza Limited with 25,000 miles on it. It's white with tinted windows and I think it looks sharp. "upgrading" from a BMW 530xi. I believe the Cadenza is nicer. Had a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 for three years, so im familiar with the family. Looking forward to the Cadenza. Didn't know about alternative badges, I replaced my badges with Genesis badges, so I'll look into it on the Cadenza.

Well, the plot thickens. The dealer I'm currently dealing with isn't budging at all on price, so I'm exploring a few other Cadenza's nearby. I'm looking at a White 2014 with the Tech package with 25,000 miles on it. Tires are bald and will need replaced before the Winter. Dealer had it listed 1,000.00 less last month, but raised it up. Won't budge. I'll either wait until the end of the month or look down in Kansas City at a nice SLX model.

Those are both low mileage for a 2014, and good that you're staying away from the base model. Lux, Tech and SLX are the only way to go. One thing to note, the Tech with bald tires at 25000, they are likely bald for a reason. I think the stock tires if treated right will last up to 35k or more. I replaced mine at 20k simply because I wasn't impressed with the tread, bought it with 10,000, so gave it a good shot. but even at 20000 there was plenty of meat left on it. Meaning, the previous owner must have been regularly pushing it if the stock tires are bald.

Note too, if the car is NOT Kia Certified, the 100,000 mile warrantee does NOT transfer to a subsequent owner. So if these are 2014's, you have maybe 1-2 years left on full warrantee, then that's it. It might help with negotiating to point out that without CPO you want the better price. Most sales lots fail to mention this to you, you knowing it gives you a little leverage.

Thank-you for the information MadMax. I have read that if it's one owner, then the warranty will transfer 5 year/60k and if certified, it's 100k - unfortunately the one I'm looking at in my home town of Omaha has had two owners. So, I'm thinking I'd be out of the warranty. It's a pre October 2014 model, so it doesn't have the cooled passenger seat, which really isn't a deal breaker at all.
I'm looking at one in Kansas City that has the adaptive cruise, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and the 19" wheels. Does anyone know if the 19" vs. 18" make a huge difference in ride quality? Logic would tell me yes, and that the 18" would be the way to go, but I've see some reviews that say the 19" wheels still deliver a nice ride. Thanks in advance!

You know, pointing out the bald tires to the sales guy and mentioning the fact that previous owner dogged this thing is another leverage technique. At very least he should drop it $1000 so you can get new tires, especially considering that you should probably swap the trans fluid early $200...and peek at the brakes, if they look worn down that's another $300. If they haven't certified it, and they haven't brought up the needed obvious maintenance just to sell it, the least they can do is work with you on the price so you can clear up those issues after you purchase it. Some dealerships hate putting money into a sale just to get their asking price, if they can get you to buy it as is.

Thanks again Madmax! I'm going to use all of those as leverage, I already talked to him about the tires, for me, I know that the price is reasonable, but the fact that the dealer had it advertised for 1K LESS at the end of October, tells me there is room. The Sales Manager is telling me (through the sales guy) there is simply no room. I asked him how there was room last month, to which the reply was literally "He just wanted to see if he could move it last month" These dealerships can be funny.

I take the position that $1,000 a deal will not be broken over . Why don't you try this Ask the dealer to split the difference and sell you brand new tires ( don't buy the OEM's) at his cost and install them for you free That is very low mileage for a 3 year old car and Cadenza's loaded like that are not all that easy to find new let alone used

As we ate our Turkey in October (Canada) contemplate your decision over the stuffing:D

And don't quote me 100%, but I'm pretty certain the 5 year 60k is transferred to all owners. It's just the powertrain that falls off for subsequent owners. So even if a car had 3 owners before you, the 5/60k should still be in place.
I looked on Kia's website, you are correct, it's for all subsequent owners on the powertrain. That's GREAT NEWS!

Update: I got the dealer to come down $1,000.00. The sales guy tried to sneakily mention something about a $299 Doc fee, I told him I I wasn't paying a Doc fee, he called me back and said "OK, we'll eat that too." So, I'm heading to grab the checkbook and will be taking delivery on it in a few hours. Very excited, it's the Pre-October version but has all of the options we would want in the color my wife wanted, and I didn't have to travel 250-300 miles to get it, which is also nice. Thank-you all for the information, I look forward to contributing on here as a Cadenza owner and not just a fan of one.

New (to me) Cadenza

First time Kia owner....just bought a 2014 Cadenza Premium with LUX package with 29k miles for 19k (what a car for the $). Did lots of research vs Avalon, 300, Lincoln MKZ, and Taurus. This car is beyond impressive and has thoroughly convinced me that not only has Kia/Hyundai done a 360 from the days of being shitboxes, but they offer some of the nicest and most well executed automobiles on the road today.
Wondering what other people have done with theirs? Anyone do engine tuning or a chip? Different grills? Wheels? Love this car and look forward to years of enjoyment.

Congrats on the new Kia. I ordered a set of the 3.0 emblems from the K5 optima store. I swapped out my H on my 2012 Genesis with the Genesis logo, it was nice. I’ll try it on the Cadenza too. First big upgrade is going to get rid of the OEM tires, which are close to bald, and get the most recommended all seasons.

Im actually purchasing tires this weekend. Going with the Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 Nothing but great reviews and should handle these Wisconsin winters pretty well.

I had the Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 in a 19". Nothing but good things to say about them.
May be the best all weather tire out there for snow.
Only fault I had with them is the flat spotting. Cold weather, first thing in the morning you will feel the flat spotting
after a couple of miles they are back to a great ride.
What nylon side wall tire doesn't flat spot in the winter?

If those Continentals do not have a snowflake on the sidewall then they are neither snow tires nor an all weather . They are all seasons which in theory make them a 3 season tire as crossing any mountain pass in heavy snow you would be stopped by the highway patrol . Nokian are true all weather tires as they do have the snow flake logo on the side wall

I'm ok with all seasons as I don't plan on passing ANYTHING in HEAVY snow lol. If I were going to do that I'd go with an SUV or a full time 4WD truck/car. If I were to have more snow than I do here I would consider having a 4WD vehicle but we don't get too terribly much and it's pretty flat.
