I'm looking at getting the worn vinyl on the center console arm rest replaced. (2014 Limited) Looking over the console removal instructions in the service manual, it looks like the entire hinged armrest comes out as one piece when the console is removed, but the instructions for disassembly stop there. When inspecting the console lid it doesn't appear that the top portion (with the vinyl) is screwed into the rest of the hinged assembly. Videos of replacing the vinyl on other car models show the vinyl cover section is often pressed together with the hinged section and the two can be pried apart.

Have any of you been able to replace the vinyl of the center console armrest? Did you have to remove the entire console to do so, or were you able to just remove the top of the arm rest for recovering?

For some reason the following was left out of the factory service manual (at least I couldn't find it) but I was able to remove the arm rest console lid without removing the entire console. Under the lid is a plastic access panel near the lid hinge supports. With a pry tool pop that panel off. There are 6 screws under that panel and removing them takes the entire lid off. The underside of the lid can then be separated from the upper, vinyl covered section with a plastic pry tool for easy recovering.
