Just bought my 2014 cadenza this week. Love it but I don't see a way to display both the analog speedo and the digital speed indicator in the upper right hand corner as the same units. It looks like you have to have both and either or. Either the speedo is mph and the actual corner readout is kmph or you can switch kmph as the speedo and the corner readout is mph. This is pointless. I want to know exactly how fast I'm going in the UOM for my country (even though I respect the metric system). Thoughts? Maybe another request to kia in the next software update?

I don't think there is a way to make them both the same. I want both to be MPH. So I keep the speedo on MHP and the digital indicator on kph.

I'd rather be able to turn that off altogether; I dont need to know the kmph driving in the U.S. That, and I'd also like to be able to put the time on the screen rather than rely on the analog - if that feature is available, I havent played around enough to find the setting

The digital time shows when the map is on the screen.

kia isn't going to change

A lot of us have gripped about having to agree even to use the radio, suggested it only be there when using the nav,
Kia's response, it isn't going to change it. they don't seem to care

Has anyone been able to change the size of the speedometer? I've switched between large and normal, but they look the same size to me.
I think they are as well. Maybe the numbers are slightly bigger? I wish we had a way to change the speedo theme, sort of like in the k900 to make it digital in the middle and with a full arrow, etc.

The latest NAV software eliminates the need to "agree" at startup. After about 5 sec the software assumes that you "agree" and the request disappears. A steep price to pay for eliminating this annoyance. Also, the new NAV release introduces some (minor) bugs.

I endorse your concern about "kph" reading on the display. Worthless and annoying unless you visit Canada. Should be able to display "mph" -- or at least turn the "kph" off.

Gerryp,

there's a new update that really does this? I presume this is a customer paid update; have you had this done and does it really eliminate pressing the I agree each time? Can you elaborate on the minor bugs it adds?

thanks!

Yes! NAV update (07.43.43.xxx) for 2014 Cadenza (and other 2014 K/H models) eliminates the need to "Agree". The "Agree" screen disappears after about 5 sec.

This is an outrageously priced (~$200) update on an SD card from Map n Soft, released about a month ago. Release was a few days after I purchased my car so Kia paid for the dealer installation. (I would not have paid 200 bucks for this -- even though "I agree" is really annoying).

Some new (trivial) interface features and deletion of some old ones (can no longer call up"My Places" by voice; can no longer text-edit "My Places" entries in upper or lower case even though screen shows [A/a] as an option. Perhaps other bugs as well.

Developer says these bugs will be fixed in next years release -- for another 200 bucks!

wow; thanks for the quick reply...I'm doing some serious talking to my dealer about this as they know I have b****ed about this from day one and also filed a complaint with KIA preferred customer line way back only to be told, ' sorry, no fix '....my dealer loves/hates me but they are always eager to do what they can for me; so I'm gonna be working on them for a free update to get this d**n screen I agree thing resolved!
will post if I am successful; thanks again!

QUESTION!

Why the **** does the Kia Soul have better radio options than us? My wife has one and she's able to pull up gas/movie prices and install apps over wifi. She can even hit a home button to pull up half map/half radio on the screen. Anyone know if she just has the new software and it allows you to do that? Seems to be a different radio entirely so I think we won't get that feature. I just think it's ridiculous to spend 15k more and get less.

I remember looking this up in the manual - large and normal only changes the size of the font for the numbers in the speedo - and I think the difference is minimal.
Yes that is in fact the only difference. I had to change it back and forth a few times before I even noticed the number size. Guess I need my eyes checked!

As far as an update that auto-accepts the "Agree" crap should be a free update since it seems to have been the number one complaint we've all shared.
