Carbon Fiber Hood/Trunk

10748 Views 24 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Scynthyace
Has anyone found a Carbon Fiber Hood/Trunk that fits on the Cadenza.

I am about to schedule a vacation to SK to see if I can find some stuff over there and ship it home since they have all the good stuff.

Also looking for Canadian or SK Headlights, as they have the LED Strip below the main light fixture... If you've seen some for sale, please let me know... Hood/Trunk are my main focus at the moment though.

The lack of accessories for my car is forcing me to eye an Optima SXL... :O

If you send a request to Cadenza K7 2014+. They seem to be able to find most everything, that is to be had, In SK.
I've had good luck with them. Prefer to buy from the K5 optima store when they have what I'm looking for.
Senr them a message and they will get back to you if items are in SK
We can order any parts made for the Cadenza from Korea. We have already ordered another customer the headlights from there.

Headlights

How much does it cost for the Headlight with the DRL, and how much more does it cost to have the car wired up to work with that headlight? I am extremely interested in this, having even reached out to Kia Canada.
Carbon fiber panels on this car??? Why? Nothing says rice more then a unpainted carbon fiber hood.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Who said anything about unpainted? I am painting the whole car a shade of blue between the Optima Blue and BRZ Blue, and figure while I am at it, go with a more aggressive hood, and my existing trunk is warped, so I have to replace it anyway before I can paint the car :(

I am also interested in the head-lights. To the point of, please invoice me, I will buy them immediately! :)

Black, but I can probably reupholster it... PM me what you're looking to get out of it. :)
looks like it could be dyed black also, but dye might scuffup
Just as a question, would wrapping the car not be cheaper/keep factory paint in tact? And if you get tired of it you can always take it off? I don't know much about wrapping honestly, just a question :)

I thought about wrapping the car, and got a few quotes too, here are my findings:

Wrap: $5,200
Includes: 7 year warranty
Pros: 0 hassle, just drop it off and let them do it
Cons: Wraps don't hold up well with the weather here in KY

Paint: $3500
Includes: 5 year warranty
Pros: I can do it all myself, in my own paint booth with my own materials
Cons: It will take me a fair amount of time to strip the entire car, and then paint it, then put it back together.

Most of the $3,500 is expected to go to a rental car, because materials for me to paint the K7 would only cost me $1,100... but with my hectic work schedule, it would probably take me 3 weeks to get it all done.

Edit: Warranty is what I put on the car, as a shop warranty that is covered under my shop policy, if it chips, fades or cracks, repairs are covered by my shop, not out of my pocket(which ultimately is out of my pocket...)

Wow, I thought the wrap would be around $2k, paint is about on par though. You're saying that's for "you" to do though, as in you aren't dropping it off at a paint shop and letting someone else do it, is that correct? If so, I have to image it would be about as expensive for just the paint alone (not to mention rental).

Yeah, because of all the body lines, and the color I want, the wrap shop quoted me a week of labor, at $110/hr... which I find ridiculous, but if I want it done anywhere else, its a 2 hour drive to another reputable shop.

But yeah, that's the cost for me to paint it, that would be taking it apart, sanding, priming, painting, clearing and all the reassembly.

The rental would be $50/day(I still get the under 25 fee for another month, after its $25/day), and my estimate would be it would take me 3 weeks, so in rental alone I am looking at over a grand just for the rental car...
Prices most be a lot different in some areas of the country. Heres the quote I got here in Phoenix,AZ

Thank you for your interest in Apex Customs. I have provided information on all of our paint alternative options below.

To wrap your vehicle in 3M matte, gloss or satin material would cost $2200.Our staff is trained by 3M and we offer a seamless install done at very few shops in the area. Also our install is designed not to damage the paint of your vehicle as many shops will leave behind cut marks ruining your OEM paint.

As an additional paint alternatives we offer plastidip for $1300 upgrade to liquid vinyl for $1500 rims would cost $195 in dip and $250 in vinyl. We do not offer a warranty on dip as it lasts as well as it is taken care of.

Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to book an appointment to get the work done.

Hey Gene, not sure how worried about it you are, but your first and last name are at the bottom of your last post from your request to the shop. Just letting you know in case you wanted to edit that bit out.

Great, you had me worried that you were going to be destroying this car, I couldn't let you do that. But it sounds like you're doing it right, so I'll sit back and wait anxiously for the final product! ;)
