I'm guessing your inquiry has more to do with warranty service, rather than maintenance? If so, you don't have much choice, right? And if for maintenance, I suspect they'll treat you just like any other customer since you're paying out of pocket. Maybe your Buick experience was atypical.
Maybe you should call Kia corporate if they are treating you badly. Make sure to get names too. Corporate seems pretty good about getting people in line, if you can call while you're there just after it happens.
