Had an unfortunate minor fender bender about a month ago. Lady in her big Mercedes GL 450 backed into my right front fender in a parking lot.

Fender needs to be replaced as its now warped and bent in. Pics really don't do the damage justice here. Fortunately it did not contact the wheel and do even more damage!

Anyway, put it in the shop about a week ago. Got a call today saying parts had finally arrived. HOWEVER, Kia sent the incorrect fender! They sent a fender for the Premium instead of a fender for the Limited. I have a 2015 Limited, and it has the fender garnish embedded into the side. The 2014 Limiteds did not have this, and neither do the current Premium models.

The one they sent did not have the holes for fender garnish. Kia is now telling the body shop that they're having trouble locating the correct fender!!!

What gives? Is this car so rare that replacement body parts are that hard to come by?

Not a having a great feeling at moment. Just want my baby repaired and back as soon as possible!!

A good shop should be able to cut/drill that garnish into the fender, and make it look like stock. I'd ask at least. I worked in a shop years ago watched that exact thing happen. The Pontiac Grand Prix GTP had those corny vents on both sides of the hood, they couldn't find the replacement hood, so they got the regularly Grand Prix hood, cut holes, and mounted the vents from the damaged hood. Went quite well, and that's a huge flat piece...

Take a look here, both fenders with and without garnish is listed. Maybe give them the part number since they can't seem to find it?

Thanks! Yeah I had done an Internet search last night as well, and found the parts also.

Not sure who they are working with at Kia and why they can't seem to locate the correct part. I have a call into them to see what's the status today.

I would definitely rather have the fender that's manufactured with the holes already than to have them try and fabricate the holes afterwards. Especially since the car is just a year old.

Call the preferred line, tell them the issue that you're having with parts, they can confirm if there is a shortage, or if your shop is trying to order them from another source. If there is a shortage, they may compensate you in some way, or at the very least keep you in the loop as parts become available and speed things along.

I am still shocked at how useful that preferred line has been!

Finally got the correct fender in...after 3 tries! The 1st one Kia sent was incorrect for the 2015 Limited. After my shop dealt Kia forever, they finally located another in CA. That 2nd one came in damaged...scratched up and each end warped out of shape!

Another call to Kia, found the latest one somewhere in the Northwest. It arrived today and was OK...

Car should be ready to come home early next week now...

No shortage for me earlier in 2015. They got the parts fine to my knowledge.

**** ya it has been. The Preferred Line is by far the BEST hidden incentive so far.
