backup camera getting replaced..

2016 cadenza, less than 20k miles on it, I'm the original owner.

something I've noticed with my cadenza is that the electronics can sometimes be flaky. I've noticed issues with the power seats and the backup camera in my car. the issue is, kia will not 'fix' anything unless they can reproduce the issues at their location. the backup camera and power seats work 99% of the time, but when they don't, it tends to be annoying, and then getting it to a kia dealership when it's not working is another challenge as the issues tend to be sporadic.

anyhow, my wife drove my car to work on Monday. when backing out of our driveway, she said the camera wasn't working. when she got to work, she said it started working...I drove the car Tuesday afternoon. the camera was not working. I had to run over to my sister's house to pick up some lawn equipment I let her borrow, but before doing that, I thought it was best to drive the car to the local kia dealership to let them see the issue so I could get this fixed under warranty. luckily for me after making a quick stop before going to kia, the camera was still not working when their shop foreman was inspecting the camera issue.

they're ordering a new backup camera. it should be in on Thursday or Friday and I'll take the car in next week when I'm off from work for them to put it in. while there, I'll also get them to try to reproduce the issue of water getting in near the emergency brake...

I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Yeah, that "we can't duplicate the issue" is typical at all dealerships and most brands. I've had to do exactly what you did with a leaking windshield, had to drive in there during a torrential rain storm, since all their leak detector personnel couldn't duplicate it with a hose. That's why when people talk about exotic cars, cars where there may be one or 2 dealerships in a 300 mile radius that can service the warranty stuff...I always gotta point out how rough that can be if you can't get things narrowed down on the first few tries. It's not uncommon to go back to a dealership multiple times over this, but the flip side too is they can't just replace parts and bill the manufacture without clearly observing the issue, as they could be audited for fraud on a regular basis and be big trouble, may be fined or some other punitive thing they do...

A good suggestion is also to take pics/video of what is wrong if you have the time. While you may not be able to reproduce it sometimes the pics/vid will help them.

I wish you luck. After mine went out I had it replaced under warranty and now so it has gone out again and apparently it's no longer under Warranty and now something is messed up with the electrical and my clock keeps changing and the computer has the complete wrong info. I don't If anyone else's experienced it but both of my back windows broke and I had to take it in to get the windows fixed in the door. I love my car but there SERVICE DEPT aka "the sales team", is completely 100% incompetent and a bunch of F'ing liars and crooks. Great car but does have issue's hence the need for a honest reliable Service Dept.
