Hello Everyone,

Per the latest announcements we will be resetting everyone’s passwords. Shortly you should be receiving an email directing you how to change your password. It will look like this:

Subject: Your new password for *site name*
Dear *username*,

Your password has been reset by an administrator. Your new details are as follows:

Username: *username*

Password: *Randomly generated temp password*

To change your password, please visit this page: *link to password reset edit page from USERCP*

If you suspect this email is a scam, you can confirm the legitimacy of this email by manually navigate to the forum URL yourself and use your new password to log in.

All the best,

Site Name

As you can see it will give you a randomly generated temporary password, as well as telling you where you need to go to updated it accordingly.

If you do not receive this email please go to the contact us page and select Other, and type in Security Password Update Issues

We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

I understand security, but having to change my password to something that is 10 characters or longer and requiring every single possible parameter? Symbol, number etc... that's a little overkill for a forum if you ask me.

Odds are I am going to forget the password I just set in the next day or two.

Why such a huge change? Can your staff look into maybe pulling the curtain back a tad on the requirements? I mean it's a forum, not the DoD....

Ha! I was thinking the same thing when I saw the password requirements. My credit union now has softer requirements than this forum. :)
Yes, was going to voice what both of you had but I guess I'll just say second. Most financial institutions aren't this stringent, nor government. Be prepared for password reset requests.
We can always revisit this with users. But by Law right now we have to reset passwords and ensure we have security settings in place.

When the dust settles we can always circle back and talk about it.

Yeah I also made the same complaint as well since we are a member and vendor on more than half a dozen Autoguide sites.

I was completely fine with all of the requirements with the exception of needing to add a symbol to the password.

That makes it a bit harder to keep track of and remember. What's weird is all of the new AG sites required this, but the Optima Forums.

That forum also required a password reset, but not a symbol to be included with the password.

Speaking of which, ever since the password requirement was put in place, our sales rep Paul has no permission to post on the site.

I have contacted our sales rep but have not heard back. Helena, can you assist us with this please?

[email protected] is the one having issues logging in. Thank you!~

Did Paul receive an E-mail with new password?
I had to copy and paste the new password for mine to work
The first time anyway, after that works fine with me entering it.
Doesn't let me do a Quote reply. Keeps telling me my message must
be at least 3 characters longer.

He did and Paul is very well-versed with online forums so it's not an issue with the password thing. He was able to reset his password and he is able to log on to the Forum but his permissions as a vendor are restricted and the Forum is not allowing him to post at all anywhere on the site. So he is logged in, just unable to post due to permissions.
Sorry about that
Guess Helena will have to address that issue

Thanks Gene, I just put another call into my sales rep at Autoguide. This has been this way for a little over a week now and he cannot post at all, so I'm hoping that this can get taken care of pretty quickly. ;)

By law right now you have to? What happened that there is now a law getting involved with an online forum?
