So I had received the MDPS related letter from KIA about 2 years ago. I noticed the steering had a bit foul play and will not be straight and also when moving left or right slightly will give a very low knocking noise. Took it to KIA right when I got the letter but they said it was something else not anything with MDPS and that I would have to pay $175 for diagnostic fees to get it checked out further.

Now just after new years started to notice the steering vibrates on highway, foul play, knocking noise when car engine in running and moving steering right and left. Just to be sure got tires balanced also but still issue is there.

Anyone knows that symptoms should I look for to convince the kia service folks that it is the MDPS?

If your sitting at idle in park jerk the steering wheel left right left right and you will hear a clicking clunking sound coming from the steering column i have this problem now and will be calling my kia dealer. I received the letter also, I have a 2014 cadenza with 40,000 miles..

Yeah it turned out to be the mdps and they replaced it free of cost later.

You should call kia customer service , tell them you were charged $160 diagnostic fee and it didn't fix the problem, they may issue a refund to you...How long did it take for the dealer to replace the coupling, i have the same problem on my 2014 and will have to take it in soon

I did not pay the diagnostic fee. They waived it. It took 2 to 3 hours if I recall.
