So I went to the Chicago auto show over the weekend with a buddy and he noticed something interesting about the new 2020 Cadenza that I thought you guys would like to see. I'm not sure why they decided to do this but there are now faux exhaust ports with downward facing actual exhaust tips behind the rear bumper. Maybe it's because people/Kia got tired of dirty exhaust ports or soot leaking onto the rear bumper, which I've seen and it looks really bad. Just thought you guys may find this interesting. Other than that the new car looked nice, a bit blend into the crowd on the overall body but the new grille looks really nice and I'd love to have one. The new center console is also a butterfly door, not sure how much I liked that.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what they are for. This is the new trend for vehicles with the GDi engine from all manufacturers. As far as I know the 2020 Ford Explorer was the first one out with this "feature" to avoid the exhaust soot on the rear bumper/exhaust surrounds. And the Explorer is actually blatant about it where they have actual fake exhaust pipes sticking out the rear and you can see the welded in plates to stop the flow but underneath are the holes, down turned for the real exhaust flow.

I hope the attached picture works well enough to see.

Edit: also just found a really bad example of an Audi S6...looks to be a couple of years old but didn't do the research to be that accurate. (red car pic)

OMG these are horrible! I had no idea this was becoming a thing and I really wish it wasn't. I'm so glad I have my exhaust ports, I don't mind wiping them down every now and then with a paper towel. To me this REALLY cheapens an otherwise "premium" or "luxury" vehicle.

Yeah, this exhaust reroute and the elimination of fog lights...biggest trends that I'm disappointed by. I know the modern LED and projector solutions are so far advanced, there is no need for fogs, but It changes the full look of the car at night from a distance. I would prefer fogs just because it makes the car footprint at night more visible to other vehicles.

I 1000% agree!!!

I have walked away from a few cars in the past simply because it didn't have fog lights or they could not be added (by the dealer - as in buying a lower trim and them adding the higher trim fogs on the lower trim car). I understand the newer trend of LED DRL's is mostly the reason for dropping the fogs but I still disagree with their removal! And especially in the case of the cars that turn off the DRL on the side that has the turn signal on... now it's much harder to discern where that side of the car is while approaching in the dark.

I hate that some cars are going away from fogs as well. I really like them and think they make the average car look much nicer and help make them look more unique. I love our fogs and wish we had the DRLs that our other foreign Cadenzas get.
