Hey everyone,

I was driving this past Friday and and just down the side streets and when I got home I noticed one of the pieces of the sunroof exploded. See Pictures. I ended up calling Kia Consumer affairs after taking it to the dealership and they started an investigation. My service advisor I usually deal with wasn't in till Tuesday so gave him a call and they had me bring back the car. They paid for a rental and I got a call yesterday from both the service advisor and Kia consumer affairs that they will be paying for the repair. It is out of warranty but what the lady at affairs said is the glass looks to be defective. I read online that Hyundai voluntarily helped fix owners with defective panoramic sunroofs but KiA didn't acknowledge it.

Its a very strange incident because in the pictures there's a huge crack down the middle and the whole glass piece is shattered. I just wanted to let you all know if anything happens to you.

WOw...one of the many reasons i don't like the solid glass roof. It looks amazing, and functions well, but the integrity of the cars strength is always in question with regard to a major collision. And of course, crazy sh!t like this happening...it's good to know kia is supporting your claim! Gives a little piece of mind. I'd love to know what that panel costs to replace, if they show it to you or share it with you verbally, please post back with that and any other new details.

Ya I thought the glass roof was awesome and then I got the car. The creaks make me a bit uneasy but it has been solid so far. I love my roof but I'm thinking maybe a convertible next (weird roof again I know LOL). I want the full open experience and less creaks (more road noise yes). I'm looking at the new Gladiator this weekend in Chicago

That Gladiator is like a grown up tonka truck...I hear the only real complaint is the bed space is a little small if you're actually hauling stuff...but everything else about it gets great response. Don't just fall in love with it, get a good deal on it too!

I'm honestly not even looking for a pickup but if it has a bed to me that's just more utility. I'd love something sporty, good utility, convertible, and cheap but we all know those just don't mix well. I figure the only thing I won't have is the sporty with the Gladiator but I'd like to get the diesel when it comes out. This is kind of a pipe dream really, I doubt I can afford (or really want to pay) the price when they are out, I like them but they are expensive. It's also hard to justify a 2 door roadster as my primary vehicle here as it snows . I need more money. On the plus side I do take donations! LOL :P
