What oil do you use? (Oil change)

I'm out of warranty now, at just over 70k mileage, so to save a little money I will be maintaining the oil change and other small maintenance jobs. I'm just curious what oil do you use? I was thinking of going 100% synthetic. I do know Kia uses a 50/50 blend of Dyno/synthetic, just wondering what everyone else out there is using and if they notice any sort of difference in startup engine rattle/ performance/ gas mileage/ I know this may be a long shot but longevity of engine life.

I have my Kia dealer do all my oil changes for me for warranty purposes (sill have 4 years left). Have you called your local dealer to see what they have been using? Have you looked in the manual? I think it usually has some suggestions for brands (Like their recommendation for Chevron Techron every other oil change). I know there is a thread somewhere that an oil rep responded to quite a while ago and I sent her an email asking about the promo they had. It was for a full synthetic for free and you send in your oil right now during the oil change, and then the oil that they gave you after the next oil change and they will send you back the analysis results to prove that theirs is better. Boy that was a while ago, I'll see if I can find the thread.

Found it. It was the Pennzoil used oil analysis program.

Not sure if she is still active or not though.

I'm still using the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Pennzoil Platinum and am satisfied with it. I don't think I've noticed any change when I went from the dealer doing the oil changes to me doing them. Honestly, seems most consensus is any modern oil is going to perform well - choose your favorite and go with it, change at recommended intervals and worry about other things.

Looks like she hasn't been active on the forums since November 2016, the time she posted. I'll give it a shot anyways. Thanks!

I was narrowing it down to Pennzoil or Mobil 1, as I have used Mobil 1 synthetic in a previous car, but I couldn't tell you how well the oil worked because that car had so many other issues, I got rid of it fast. I think I'll probably go with whatever is cheaper

I follow the OEM 7500 mile change w/Pennzoil full synthetic. Do all maintenance myself. While I have had no drive train issues, my 2015 is in the shop at least a month every six months or so for a laundry list of warranty repairs. They have never given me any push back due to me handling my own maintenance.

I've seen a lot of posts where owners feel like they have to take their vehicle to the dealership to be worked on to avoid having their warranty void. That is not true, in fact its illegal for dealer/car manufacturer to deny warranty claim based just on the fact you did not have the car serviced by them or you installed an aftermarket product. They have to prove the issue was due to faulty installation (by third party) or use of aftermarket product.

I'm using Fram oil filter and SuperTech full synthetic 5W-30 oil. I also change every 5k. Live in SW where its dry and dusty.
