Unhappy Just a month in owning my car and I've been keyed!!!

Yeah this happened today!! Have owned my car for nearly a month and I come out to see my driver side doors had been keyed. Not cool! I'll attach photos.

Anyone have experience fixing deep scratches? Is it a lengthy process, a good DIY project or should I just take it to a professional?

It really depends on how deep that is. You can buff it out with a mild compound and see what happens. Then hit it with a polish. Just remember, mild compound. You go to heavy a grit and you'll leave marks. You're just looking to hand polish that out. Ideally its just damage to the clearcoat. If so you can make it look nearly invisible with the right buffout. If they got into the paint, then you'll need to touch up or have the doors repainted.

That's a **** shame BTW, why the fuk people do that, I just don't get it.

So after watching many videos and reading many articles/reviews I picked up a touch-up pin (Free) from my local Kia dealership and Quixx System PSR kit ($19.00) from Autozone. I have the patience to tackle this on my own so I'll give it a shot. Tonight I applied the touch-up pin, it's already looking better. I'm suppose to let that dry completely before using the Quixx System. I'll be back here to update my progress and have pictures.

I tried the touchup pen on my blue Cadenza. Most people didn't notice the mark after, BUT
I knew it was there and always noticed. Maybe I just wasn't very good at it.
Yes let us know how you make out

So I worked on one of the door panels and I got to say it worked pretty well. The shallow areas of the scratch came out flawlessly, the deeper areas will probably need a second pass.

I will say though not as easy as the instruction videos made it look. The instructions say to polish the cream over the scratch for 2 minutes, applying pressure, and the more pressure the better. Holy cheese!!!! 2 minutes seemed forever and my hand/arm got a work out. Attached are couple before/after pictures.

I think I would be concerned about why it got keyed. I know people do stupid stuff for no reason but hopefully you have no enemies or psycho exes. I have always parked my Cadenza out of the way and took the extra steps just to avoid the door dings or rude people that don't care however there are many spiteful people that are just haters and find joy in messing with other peoples stuff.

I once had a buddy with a psycho ex who knifed all four of his tires. Talking about costing some unnecessary cash. Of course he had no camera footage and couldn't prove it but he knew it was her because she knew he loved his car.

I hope for your sake it was an isolated innocent.

That's funny you mention that because everyone I've told about this keying their first comment is who hates you? I don't have any enemies that I'm aware of, or psycho exes. I believe this actually happened while my family was in Church. We've had other Church members cars broken into, and items stolen recently. Several individuals have been seen cutting through our Church parking lot too. It's a small Church and they share the building with another Church. They can't afford a real security team, they do have several guys that walk around but they can't cover all the areas all the time. I'm sure it was probably a kid just walking through the parking lot. I think if it was someone who had it out for me they would have done more damage.
