Cadenza Limited versus Premium

I have been looking into the Cadenza since I first saw it on autoblog; I remembered when it debuted for the US that it had chrome wheels, and then when it came to market they were not available. See below:

2014 Kia Cadenza: Detroit 2013 Photo Gallery - Autoblog

I started digging deeper and noticed that this model also had LED fog lights (instead of halogen ones) and maybe even some other niceties that did not make it to the "premium" trimmed model.

Then the new commercial debuted and it had both the chrome wheels and LED fog lights, and in the very beginning there was a small disclaimer that said (paraphrased) Limited model shown with additional equipment not available until 9/1/13.

So there is an additional limited trim coming in a few months (I assume they waited so that there was incentive to get the optima SXL still considering the cadenza doesn't even have LED DRLs like the SXL does but that's just marketing and business), and that leads me to my next question..

What is going to be exclusive to the limited trim? Obviously a premium tech pkg model has quite a few niceties, but there are still things missing such as an air conditioned passenger seat, chrome wheels, led fog lights, rear seat audio controls in the armrest, and LED DRLs.

What do you think the limited model will add besides the chrome wheels and led fogs? I assume the no charge nappa leather/premium wood/suede headliner will disappear from the premium trim and become exclusive to the limited trim as well, but that is just my idea.

Also, as a side note, since the car in the us does not have the led drls (mounted below the main beam) like the korean version, can you leave the parking lights on during the day (with the led accent lights mounted above the main beam) and they turn off with the car like hyundais? or since it has auto lights that feature is overridden and the lights will stay on when you shut the car off unless they are in auto or off? LED DRLs of any sort are a must have for me once I break the $40,000 barrier.

First of all, welcome to the forum Humercedes! I can already tell that you will have great input to the site.

There are a few other threads in the forum that have touched on the "rumour" of an SXL and have pointed out the Hot Grad Girl commercial, e.g., the barely visible SXL badge, chrome wheels, LED fogs, and the disclaimer. I have been especially interested as I am not buying until the end of the year. The additional items, the cooled passenger seat and the other stuff would be nice and it will be interesting to see.

Our friend Beezwax here on the forum is a sales Kia associate, in Houston I believe. He has commented that he has heard the hushed talk of an SXL later in the year as well. I have a salesman that I have been talking to here in the S.F. Bay area in Cali that has also heard talk of an SXL.

I hope that we are dreaming a realistic dream here. It would certainly be worth the wait. Hmm, while we're dreaming....AWD? Turbo? ....oh well, I would be happy with any additional goodies if they would just include a **** cooled passenger seat.

Thanks for the thread, it keeps the dream alive!

Cheers,

John

Since it is all speculation what the Limited may offer, I think in addition to what the commercial already revealed chrome wheels, and LED headlights, it looks like that car has 35% tint which I believe would pass all state tint laws. My guess in addition to the passenger ventilated seat which the Optima SXL has I think it will offer different steering options like some of the other models offer. If I hadn't seen the commercial I would think a descreet spoiler would also be in the mix but I did't see one in the commercial. At first I thought they may offer the Parking Assist but I think they will want to save the big bells and whisles for the Quoris, then make it available on the Cadenza is future years if it is marketable.

I did notice that Equus is no longer offering the rear reclining seats and some of the other features the signature model offered so will Quoris follow suit or at test the waters for a year or two offering rear seat luxury.

Starkemann! Good to hear from you. I hope all is well.

I hope some of your guesses are accurate. You're making it sound pretty good.

I hope the September date is true, that's not so long to wait.

Take care!

John

Equus still offer reclining seats in both trims Signature (40/60 split) and Ultimate (50/50 split)...driver seat with massage also standard on both and only Ultimate gives you rear seat with massage and ventilation.

Self parking would be nice but it seems that marketing thinks its not a popular feature to offer even its popular in Europe and Asia

The info may be incorrect, I was referencing the statements in the last sentence of the paragragh below from the Auto News article. I did mis-speak when I said Signature I meant Ultimate model. But I will refer to you because it sounds like you have actually seen one and I haven't. Thank you for correcting me I don't like to pass on incorrect info and certainly don't want to get sued by Hyundai.

"For 2014, the Ultimate model features new standard equipment that includes a larger 12.3-inch instrument cluster and display screen, head-up display, rear-seat entertainment system with dual, 9.2-inch monitors, a multi-view camera system, power door closures and power rear lumbar support. Hyundai has eliminated the 50-50 split rear seats with reclining function, rear console refrigerator and first-class seat with massage system and leg support." - See more at: http://www.autonews.com/article/2013....YTw57u1B.dpuf

A few things to get this back on track from the Equus highjack;

1) I do not believe it is going to be called SX-L but rather just limited. The SX-L was derived from the optima SX and adding the limited package to it. There is no cadenza SX, just premium.

2) The tint in the commercial is purely cosmetic, as there are times when you can see through the glass and see her lips etc, and there is no tint. I call photoshop, especially since not too many cars come with anything besides light privacy glass from the factory on the rear glass.

3) This is not a sports model, so I assume no brembo brakes are in the works.

4) If you look at the model from the detriot auto show, it has the nappa leather, real wood, suede headliner that I was talking about, but no button for adjustable steering (which my friend has in his elantra gt and is amazing i might add), or any button for active park assist. I cannot tell if the button for the passenger seat climate setting has ac or just heat still (and on a side not it is weird that the driver seat is three stage heating/ac and the passenger seat is only two stage).

5) I believe the heated rear seat buttons are on the door by the window switch, but with the rear seat controls they move to the center armrest which might be another part of the limited.

6) I wonder why people would buy the premium tech model over the limited as it comes available if the pricing is going to be most likely similar? Weird on Kia's part.

7) Has anyone seen my thread about the azera wiper blades and has anyone tried them out I bet they make the car look so much nicer.

8) can the LED drls be added by swapping out the headlights for the korean ones?

9) The optima, sorento, and soul have ac seats, the cadenza, sportage, and forte have an ac seat. Weird. I understand the sportage and forte being cheaper models but really with the cadenza? Even the azera with the same seating setup has both. I know the driver seat is different given its thigh adjustment but really kia?

10) Does anyone have links to the threads discussing the limited trim, I am new here and having some trouble navigating.

Thanks in advance you guys are awesome and I look forward to contributing all I can

In one of the links I have included below, it is commented (by someone with a very good eye, evidently) that it can be seen in the pretty grad commercial that the car has an SXL nameplate. In fact, the question was posed as to where the poster could get that nameplate.

2) The tint in the commercial is purely cosmetic, as there are times when you can see through the glass and see her lips etc, and there is no tint. I call photoshop, especially since not too many cars come with anything besides light privacy glass from the factory on the rear glass.

I agree. I have been involved with SEMA shows and Auto shows for many years and it is pretty common for the exhibitors to use a slight tint to "glamorize" the vehicle. This is very true in advertizing photos, too.

3) This is not a sports model, so I assume no brembo brakes are in the works.

I don't know, Kia is prone to do the "unexpected". Companies like BMW build M-series cars and M~Benz does the AMG thing. Kia may decide to do something to shake up the industry even more than it already is/has. Like I said, I was dreaming, so anything goes.

4) If you look at the model from the detriot auto show, it has the nappa leather, real wood, suede headliner that I was talking about, but no button for adjustable steering (which my friend has in his elantra gt and is amazing i might add), or any button for active park assist. Good eye!

5) I believe the heated rear seat buttons are on the door by the window switch, but with the rear seat controls they move to the center armrest which might be another part of the limited.

Minor change, they could have done other, more usefull (added value) things with the same investment and effort.

6) I wonder why people would buy the premium tech model over the limited as it comes available if the pricing is going to be most likely similar? Weird on Kia's part.

Maybe they really want the Brembo brakes. (lol)

7) Has anyone seen my thread about the azera wiper blades and has anyone tried them out I bet they make the car look so much nicer.

I am going to do that change when I have the car to do it with. Thanks again for the tip.

8) can the LED drls be added by swapping out the headlights for the korean ones?

(?) Good question...

Don't get me started on this ridiculous move. If they don't come out with the passenger seat cooling, I will find a way to mod it. Like you said, how difficult could it be?

10) Does anyone have links to the threads discussing the limited trim, I am new here and having some trouble navigating.

Here are a couple...

http://www.cadenzaforum.com/forum/ne...13-hmmmmm.html

http://www.cadenzaforum.com/forum/ne...dge-trunk.html

There are more comments spread amongst various threads, These are just two that I could easily find.

Thanks in advance you guys are awesome and I look forward to contributing all I can

I appreciate every one on the forum who loves the car (or even if they hate the car for some reason) and makes this a helpful and viable community. Thanks, Humercedes!
Cheers,

John

LED Fogs
19" Chrome Wheels (like on TV commercial)
