Exhaust Smell

Anyone else think the exhaust from our cars smells different from other vehicles on the road? I usually like the smell of running vehicles (I know, I'm weird like that) except diesel but our exhaust somehow smells different. I'm not saying it's bad, just that it is different and I wonder why. Maybe that helps contribute to soot? My nose is sensitive but I think others should notice it as well.

Read the post on black smoke and you will understand the smell, I think. Not big but yes I can tell also.
Does this because of direct injection.

I've never smelled another direct injection engine smell like this. And yes, I'm part of the discussion on the black smoke thread. I would just like to know the cause, they may be linked sure, but why is it this way...

don't know why but seems to be on the Cadenza more than other cars. We have a K900 also
and never smells . Don't get any where as much soot either

Some how I missed the first part of this thread and thought it was an isolated incident. My bad. I'm editing my comment to prevent confusion.

But to address the issue, it could be the type of cat kia used? Has anyone brought this issue to kia cooperate? I know if there are enough complaints they are more likely to look into it and address it if it's an actual problem
