Alright, can't find incandescent options, but there are a ton of LED. I know in the case of the flasher application you need to support the install with some resistors. Anyone got a really good explanation of where they go? Are you tapping the outside of the wire essentially? I understand you need one for both blinkers, (or all 4 if you were going LED up front too) right?

For the turn signal bulbs (front and rear), if you replace the incandescent bulb with LED, you will need a load resistor for both front and rear. The load resistor simply puts an electrical load on the turn signal circuit to trick the computer that an incandescent bulb (with it's high current draw) is present (and not hyper flash).


You'll need a load resistor for each signal you install (so 4 total if you replace all 4). The resistor is wired in parallel, meaning you tap one end into the turn signal wire (anywhere in the wire), and another to ground (doesn't have to be ground from a wire, can be metal point on the body). Also doesn't matter which wire on the resistor goes to the signal and to ground.


If your shopping for a bulb, I'd recommend staying away from most. In my research, most LED bulbs don't aim the light properly off the reflector, and can appear dimmer than the stock incandescents.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I would prefer incandescent, since I don't want to get too creative with wiring while under warrantee, also don't want to drop $100 on turn signals. Plus I've read what you say about brightness, aiming, even color, some of these lights look pink. Problem is 1156 in red is not easy to find with a decent review.

I have this unit for my Jeep as a stop/tail/turn signal, and it works fantastically. Easily twice as bright than the incandescent bulb it replaced. The Cadenza's turn signals (front and rear) are small, and the rear is oddly shaped. Hard to say if this design will work in there. Maybe worth a try if you're up for it.

I have sold a lot of LED replacement bulbs for motorcycles. It's very hard to find an LED that is as bright as the incandescent bulb it replaces. Whenever I see a bright LED tail light, I'm betting it has a great reflector backing it up. As technology changes, this will get better.

Couldn't agree more. Manufacturers are finally building some products designed for optics rather than sheer lumen power.

Sh!t, I just realized you sold them as a pair...I saw the $59 price tag last week and thought that was per each. I ended up ordering some reasonably priced incandescent off of Amazon, got good reviews. If I end up not satisfied I'll be checking out these Cree's.

Count me in, I'll order them today. The incandescing red's were 1/3 the stock amber. I'll email you now...
